I have lived on Staten Island all my life and over the years I have come to appreciate all of the many amenities this community offers and of course it's close proximity to one of the greatest cities in the world. Because of this I have found Staten Island to be a wonderful place to raise my daughter.
Giving back to the community is very important to me and serving on Community Board 2 for seven years is something I am very proud of. I have also been involved in many fund raising events for several not-for-profit organizations here on the Island.
After high school I received my BA from the College of Staten Island and then went on to earn a MA from Kean University. I began my career as a teacher with a large not-for-profit agency in Manhattan serving people with developmental disabilities and retired as Vice President of Health Services in 2013.
I began my "encore" career as a Realtor in 2009 part time and upon retiring began working full time with Better Homes and Gardens Realty/Safari Realty. Although it may appear that the fields I have worked in are in complete contrast my work with people with developmental disabilities and their families enhances my skills as a Realtor.
There is nothing more stressful then selling or buying a home. My work experience on all levels has assisted me in diffusing my clients stress and with patience, honesty and knowledge help them to reach their goal of selling or buying a home.
To reduce my own stress a day of golf at one of the beautiful golf courses on SI puts everything back in perspective!!
I have the opportunity to work with many wonderful clients who I have kept in touch with me over the years. One client Giselle Fuentes writes, "Joanne worked tirelessly to find a suitable homes for us to see and was extremely patience in dealing with the varied preferences of my mother and myself". From Stella and Daniel Bersaman, "From the time we stared the process you were always there giving tips and enlightening us on whatever questions we had." And from Joan Fertig, "Your level of professionalism is exemplary and my husband and I were confident that you would do whatever was best to sell our home".
These comments bring me an enormous amount of personal satisfaction and remind me of why I love being a Realtor.
